The Darna Women's Community Center is a safe harbor, career training center,
and adult education school.
To develop the capacities of our clients in the areas of career training,
production, and management, and to insure the project's sustained
development, the Women's Community Center has from its inception
followed a revenue-generating model.
This model is based in project's pedagogical dimension -- in the
professional training workshops -- which allows simultaneous
apprenticeship and marketable production. Thus, after just over a year in
operation, we have been able to present the following opportunities, and now bring their goods to market:
Professional Training Studios:
Textiles and sewing
Modern baking techniques
Traditional baking
Cooking
Visitors may order products from the workshops at any time.
Rental of the multipurpose hall, equipped with audiovisual equipment
and able to accomodate 150 people for professional gatherings or
training sessions. Rentals require one week advance notice.
Restaurant, Cafeteria, Catering
A dining room and patio seating 50. Meals, coffee and tea is always
available and can be ordered by advance reservation. Take-away platters
and cakes are also available by special order.
A hamam bath for women, able to accomodate 10-20 visitors, is also
available for rental.
Three boutique shops offering all the products created by the women in
our studios, including clothing, handmade cloths, decor items, and
accessories.
A bookstore which offers publications about Morocco and especially those
edited by Moroccan woman or concerning the condition of women in
Morocco.
